Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a procedure that uses a small amount of white dental paste that can be molded into the desired shape and dries hard, resembling tooth enamel. Dental bonding can be used to repair small cracks and to cover up surface stains, such as those that can occur from drinking wine or other beverages. It can also be used to cover tooth roots exposed by gum recession.
Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is a medical condition that involves pauses in a person’s breathing during sleep, usually without their awareness. This can affect how rested someone feels in the morning, and it can also have many negative effects on a person’s overall health. Dr. Gumm provides gentle treatment using custom oral appliances. Oral appliance treatment can be an effective alternative to treatment with a CPAP mask for patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea.
Extractions
When needed, Dr. Gumm performs gentle, comfortable tooth extractions. He uses a special protocol for nontraumatic tooth extractions, ensuring that he removes the entire tooth with minimal damage to the surrounding tissues. As part of his extraction protocol, Dr. Gumm usually also preserves the empty socket with a simple bone grafting procedure, so that an implant can be placed in the future if the patient wishes.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
Dr. Gumm uses tooth-colored fillings that blend in seamlessly with your natural tooth color. If you have old amalgam fillings, Dr. Gumm can replace them with beautiful white fillings, which can greatly improve your smile.
Gum Recontouring for Gummy Smiles & Uneven Gumlines
Dr. Gumm is highly trained in the treatment of gums. If you have excess gum tissue that creates an uneven gumline or gives the appearance of a “gummy smile,” Dr. Gumm can remove the excess tissue and create a more aesthetic, natural-looking gumline.

Laser Cold Sore Treatment
Dr. Gumm uses a dental laser to provide safe and effective treatment for cold sores. The specific wavelength used in the laser treatment blunts the viral attack. The treatment promotes faster healing of the sore and is especially effective on cold sores that have just started to develop.
Mouthguards
Dr. Gumm provides different types of mouthguards: sports mouthguards can enhance a person’s performance during athletic activities, and nightguards protect a person’s teeth from clenching and grinding during sleep. All mouthguards are custom-made for a perfect fit.
TMJ Treatment
Problems with bite alignment or the alignment of the jaws can cause jaw pain, headaches and wear on the teeth. Dr. Gumm corrects these issues by making adjustments to tooth surfaces to improve the bite, or through restorative dentistry. If needed, Dr. Gumm can also refer you to a competent orthodontist.
